MAKE ROOM FOR YOUR VIDEO

How do I remove black bars without stretching the video?

Upload the video to inspect stable outer black borders across multiple frames. Drag the green frame to confirm the picture, then drag the orange output frame to your preferred size. Preview the layout, save a draft or prepare a cropped source locally. Black clothing and shadows inside the picture are kept. Player-added bars require matching the display shape instead.

Composition tip
Use the green frame for the picture you want to keep and the orange frame for the surrounding canvas.
THREE STEPS TO YOUR COMPOSITION

From black borders to a ready-to-fill picture

  1. 01

    Inspect and confirm the borders

Start with a playable example or upload a clip. Detect black bars, then drag the green picture frame to refine the edges. Black clothing and shadows inside that frame are kept.

  2. 02

Drag the output to your size

Drag the orange edges or corners to set a custom canvas. Its dimensions update as you move, without choosing a format preset. The output frame keeps the selected picture inside it.

  3. 03

    Preview, compare and save

Switch between Canvas and Original in the same workspace. Prepare cropped video creates a download of your selected picture. Save the surrounding canvas separately as a draft.

LESS OF THE ORIGINAL

Crop to fill

Fills the frame by trimming the edges. Useful when all the important action fits inside the crop.

THE WHOLE SHOT, WITH FILLER

Fit with a blurred background

Keeps the entire source over a blurred copy. A practical option when you only need a different canvas.

SPACE FOR NEW SCENERY

THE WHOLE SHOT, NEW SURROUNDINGS

Expand the scene with AI

Plans space for new scenery around the original. AI generation uses credits and the result needs review.

Letterbox versus pillarbox bars

Letterboxing describes bars above and below the picture. Pillarboxing describes bars at its left and right. Their direction helps you see how the active picture differs from the surrounding canvas.

Baked-in borders and player-added bars

Baked-in bars are pixels inside the video file. Removing them requires a crop or a dedicated selection process. Player-added bars are outside the active video; changing the player or delivery aspect ratio may solve that problem without altering the recording.

Fill unused space without stretching the subject

After cropping only the outer borders, fit the active picture into the target shape. The checkerboard marks the area intended for new scenery. The examples contain encoded black borders so you can try detection and framing.
